When it comes to describing how the flow of inspiration hits me, it was Mozart who said it best.
"When I am, as it were, completely myself, entirely alone, and of good cheer - say traveling in a carriage, or walking after a good meal, or during the night when I can't sleep - it is on such occasions that my ideas flow best, and most abundantly. Whence and how they come, I know not, nor can I force them." Mozart.

Quote of the Day
Life is not a continuum of pleasant choices, but of inevitable
problems that call for strength, determination, and hard work

Quote of the day
Work gets completed by efforts, not by thinking only.
Deer do not enter into the mouth of sleeping lion.
He has to actively hunt them.

Quote of the day
Where women are worshipped, goddesses dwell.
Where they are not worshipped, all actions are fruitless.
Where they are not worshipped, all actions are fruitless.

Where is she?
I think of her now and where she could be,
hidden in shadow as darkness enfolds her.
She'll always be a mystery to me,
her taste for blood as she whispers, "Sir."
hidden in shadow as darkness enfolds her.
She'll always be a mystery to me,
her taste for blood as she whispers, "Sir."

Monsters of our day
o Once upon a time monsters lived under the bed or in the dark closet in the corner. But as children grow up these imaginary creatures of the night are replaced by very real terrors. The Big Bad Wolf no longer is restricted to the forest but is now the serial killer who may be living next door. War, disease, famine, and death ride our nightmares with apocalyptic abandon. The realities of poverty and personal tragedies are the new demons haunting our dreams. Our culture projects its own collective cinematic nightmares on movie screens with visions of zombies and the end of the world.
The monsters of childhood were defeated with the light of growing up. The new monsters of our adult lives are all too real and not so easily dismissed. They don't come from some inner imagination or dark shadow in the hall, but from the real world around us. To defeat them will require more than simple courage. These mosaic monsters are born of problems too great for any single person to conquer. Overcoming these real new horrors will require we work together. Only through caring and enlightenment can we aspire to bring light to the darkness created by our darker selves.

The Winter of the Soul
fall is coming
the days grow shorter
the nights come earlier
the chill in the air matches my heart

The Crayon Box That Talked By Shane Derolf
While walking into a toy store the day before today
I overheard a crayon box with many things to say
"I don't like red!" said yellow and Green said "nor do I"
"and no one here likes Orange but no one knows just why"
"we are a box of crayons that doesn't get along
Said Blue to all the others "Something here is wrong"
Well, I bought that box of crayons and took it home with me
And laid out all the colors so the crayons all could see
They watched me as I colored with Red and Blue and Green
And Black and White and Orange and every color in between
They watched as green became the grass and blue became the sky
The yellow sun was shining bright on white clouds drifting by
Colors changing as they touched becoming something new
They watched me as i colored-They watched me till I was through
And when I finally finished I began to walk away
And as I did the crayon box had something more to say
"I do like Red!" said Yellow and Green said, "so do I"
And Blue you were terrific! So high up in the sky
"We are a box of crayons each one of us unique
But when we get together the picture is more complete"

Away of the Sun
sun sun go away,
shine again another day
shine not on my lady dark
let the moon come and stay.

After The Crash
Caffeine, nicotine, valium, tabs
Coffee and cigarettes
Breakfast of champions these days
Another dawn’s wasted regrets
Another pack another hit
Another choking breath
Make it through another day
It’s a tale, said Macbeth.
